  1. I found your project quite by accident. I looked at a project posted on fb then clicked small projects. as i scrolled through the many I decided to look at your purely based on your location as I also live in WV and also am particularly fond of the name Spencer. As often happens to me while searching, reading, looking on the internet one place leads to another and another. Anyway, I proceeded on and found myself here at your blog. Wow and more wow!! I found myself wanting more of your stories. Oh such a way you have. I will be seeking out your books to read. Books you could say define my life, my livelihood...I have been a school librarian for over 24 years. Thank you so much. I can't wait to read more!!

    1. Dear DDiMagno,

Thanks so much for your kind words, and help in my project! I'm a WV native myself; never lived anywhere else. Born in Morgantown, moved to Spencer when I was 4, and grew up here. I left for WVU, then later on MU. I lived in Charleston for two years and in Huntington for six years. Moved back to Spencer, and I guess here I'll stay. My first two books were not set in WV, but the memoir is, and the book I'm working on now is as well. I don't sell a lot of books. I suppose because there are so many books in the marketplace now, and I am lousy at promotion. Perhaps I don't write what is fashionable. I do write what I like, so I'm happy. I've worked as a librarian myself, so books have always defined my life as well. Again, thanks for your kindness and generosity! Perhaps we will meet some day!

      My Very Best,

      Michael

    2. Thanks Michael! I have lived in WV, Martinsburg (Berkeley County), for all but the first 6 months of my life. Truly, unlike many of the people I grew up with, I have never desired to live anywhere else. I like that what you write makes you happy. You stay authentic, true to yourself....and I have to say what I read left me wanting to read more. I don't believe in coincidences so therefore I feel I was supposed to find your project and your books.

My talent with stories, books written for kids, is telling them to the children I teach and to my own kids. Hopefully inspiring them to want to read more.

I wish you the very best in all your up coming books and projects. And yes, I have an uncanny feeling our paths will cross one day.

      Very Best,

  2. Hello Fellow Appalachian Creator:

I just saw your project on Kickstarter.

For the last few months my website studio Mountaineer Creative Labs (http://mtneercreativelabs.com ), in between client projects, has been developing a service of our own. It's a "Kickstarter" platform for West Virginia creators only. It's called http://DUBVEE.COM

The service is launching, appropriately, on West Virginia Day, June 20th.

We've got all kinds of pre-launch promotions going out all over the State right now with Press Releases, Ads, Sweepstakes etc. to garner interest and gather signups.

Congrats on the Kickstarter success. We think you might be able to gain an even better outcome by targeting the people that want to support you most. The residents of West Virginia!

We'd love to have you launch your next campaign with us and be one of the first campaigns people will see at Launch.

Email me at: shanerich@dubvee.com to discuss gaining access to begin setting up your campaign now to be ready to go when we launch on WV Day come June 20th. Hope to hear from you soon.

If you don't have a project to fund right now, we'd appreciate a Like on Facebook and a Share with your WV friends. Much thanks!
