"The Girl Who Read To Birds"

On August 12th, 2011, a new fantasy book was introduced into the world. It is a modern fairy tale, mysterious and ethereal, beautifully illustrated by Julie Miller. The book asks "How far would you go to follow your dreams?" But it demands so much more of the reader. It is a poignant exploration of the mind and heart of a child -- a particular child named Avery Street, but also the child in all of us, no matter the age. It speaks to the lonely, the misfit, the misunderstood, the bullied, the dreamer. It's also about taking risks, making decisions that forever alter the course of ones life, and the lives of others.

A few reviews:

"This book is a wonderful story for any child (or adult) who has ever felt they didn't quite belong in the family, school, or neighborhood where they live. Julie Miller's sensitive illustrations bring beautiful dimension to this odd, mysterious, and emotionally satisfying story. Read this book aloud to someone you love."

"This is a wonderfully written and illustrated story that captures one's attention like a classic fairy tale. Michael Titus has a special gift for poignant, poetic, even mystical descriptions of both the physical and emotional world. His narrative, as well as Julie Miller's illustrations, also excel at a magical blending of reality and fantasy. For any parent who wants to encourage their child's exploration of imagination and creativity, an appreciation of their own uniqueness as a human being, and the subtle but powerful aspects of the relationship between children and parents, this is the book to read - not just for the child, but for the parent as well."

"I love this odd and mysterious book. It will speak to any child (or adult) who sometimes feels lonely, misunderstood, or misplaced. That is, most of us. Michael Titus's lyrical language is perfectly complemented by Julie Miller's sensitive illustrations. This book will stay with you long after you've finished reading it, and just might become a classic."

As you know by now, I am the author. This blog will be about the book, upcoming books and other quirky things that entertain my mind. I hope you enjoy the journey!
